![]() ![]() The laptop is about a year old, so I'm not sure what the threshold is for new thermal paste. ThrottleStop doesn't support AMD CPUs, only Intel, unfortunately. You should take a look inside, and don't worry, taking out a modern laptop shouldn't be hard at all especially if you follow guide videos, just need to believe in yourself. Does your non-working fan even produce any sound? By experience, my cooling fan had its lubricant dried out and I had to put more lubricant which fixed the issue. Also, you don't need a new thermal paste, although depending on your laptop's age replacing it would be good but it is optional. If you ever managed to force it out of this state you'll either have the laptop turn off entirely when it hits "the CPU is about to fry itself" temperature, or it will indeed actually fry the the thread you mentioned suggested, did you clear BD PROCHOT in ThrottleStop? Also, you should do something about the fan. The fact it occasionally tries to boost back up to normal speed just further suggests this being the case. No, as this suggests its the CPU fan that has failed so its thermal throttling as far as it can go. Does anyone know how I can keep the clock speeds up with something like Ryzen Master? I don't want to take apart my laptop to see what's wrong with the other fan just yet because I'll have to buy new rubber feet and thermal paste after the teardown. (I used this link, but it was referring to an Intel CPU.) Every once in awhile it jumps back up to around 3-4 GHz, but immediately goes back down afterward. After booting the computer, everything seemed to be working fine, except that my CPU was being throttled down to 0.38 GHz, which, after some digging, seems to be the lowest speed for my CPU. I went into my BIOS and changed my fan settings to be always on, which is how I figured out that it was only one of the fans that stopped working. Recently, one of my fans stopped working on boot, so I was getting a System Fan (90B) error.
